Shawn Smith

CIM, PMP

As Director of Investment Operations for GCA, Shawn Smith is a people leader and implements and executes process initiatives. He leads three regional branches, head office operations, the billing team, the trading desk and settlements, Shawn works with his team to develop processes, systems and policy documents and, together, they collaborate to continuously improve GCA services. He joined the company in 2016 and assumed this role in 2019, following years of management and industry experience.

Shawn graduated with a BA Double Honours from York University. He holds the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM®) designation and Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation. Shawn is an adherent and student of the Six Sigma philosophies and principles and, through the University of Toronto, has completed certification in Lean Six Sigma and Six Sigma Black Belt, along with the Project Management Certificate. He is currently pursuing a series of advanced courses in systems thinking.
